Rome – Vespa, Cinquecento, Angels And Demons

Probably no European town has to offer so many places of art and history like Rome. Experience the metropolis very closely: the awesome history just as the happy people and the pulsating life all around Coliseum and Capitol.

To arrive properly in Rome, for the first city tour you mount the probably 'most Roman' of all means of transportation, the legendary Vespa. On the back seat of the old cult scooter you experience the scenery of Dolce vita: from via Veneto to the Piazza Navona and further to Trastevere. Over the earphones in your helmet, you listen to the anecdotes your guide is telling about land and people, and on the way you refresh yourself with an Italian ice speciality.

In the Trastevere quarter the city of Rome finds to itself. Winding lanes, contemplative places, old churches and small restaurants testify of how the town has looked centuries ago. On a walk you get to know closer this lively part of town.

Then, far beyond everyday's life, you discover the town anew: on the traces of the Illuminati society. The thriller 'Angels And Demons' by Dan Brown appeared in 2003; its story line centers on the Vatican, a world of austere religious rules, conspiracy and betrayal. In the original settings, from the Sistine chapel up to angel's castle, you experience the fascination of the novel once again. In the marvelous baroque church Santa Maria della Vittoria novel hero Langdon passes his deadly fight with the Assasins. Just knock at the ancient door – inside the church a string player's quintet will surprise you and play only for you.

Outside the church life is still pulsating, and another adventure is waiting for you: At the wheel of an affectionately restored Fiat 500 you drive in convoy to Castel Gandolfo and enjoy on your way the famous sceneries of the Castelli Romani. The interstops are fixed individually, maybe in Frascati to degustate a bread with Pancetta, or at Nemi lake to try the tasty wild strawberries.
