Parabolic flights in the Cosmonaut's aircraft

There are only two ways of experiencing weightlessness: on board a spaceship or in a special aircraft specifically designed for this purpose. The Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre (GCTC) in Star City near Moscow - which has been the training centre for Russian cosmonauts for four decades - places its IL-76 at our disposal for special flights.

On board the aircraft there is a lot of room to enjoy intensively the release from the force of gravity. During each of the approximately 12 to 15 parabolas you experience about 25 seconds of zero gravity. That means a total of 5 to 7 minutes of absolute weightlessness: time to carry out your own small experiments or simply float through the cabin completely detached.

After your flight a tour of the cosmonaut training centre is on the programme. You see the world's largest centrifuge for zero-gravity experiments, the large diving pool in which cosmonauts practise working in space and the 1:1 models of Soyuz, Buran, Mir, Zvezda and other space vehicles and stations. When you meet an experienced Russian cosmonaut, he reports on his experiences and impressions in space.

Photos and video filming during the flight for private use are permitted. The professional GCTC video team can be booked by prior arrangement. On request we will handle the application for the necessary visa and booking of the flights to and from Moscow. We recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance.
