Hands-on science @ Universum Bremen

Did you always want to know how a tornado comes into being? Why soap bubbles shine so colourfully? Why every human being is unique? At the Universum Center in Bremen science becomes an adventure, gloriously colourful worlds of experience turn visitors into explorers and discoverers.

The 'Universum' is considered to be a major showpiece of the Hanseatic city in addition to its historical landmarks. The futuristic building alone arouses curiosity. The curved shape with its outer skin comprising 40,000 stainless steel shingles gives rise to many associations: as a 'whale', 'mussel' or even an 'Easter egg', the masterpiece designed by star architect Thomas Klumpp is reflected enigmatically in the lake specially created around it.

Inside the world of science is explained vividly on an area of around 4,000 square metres and on the basis of 250 interactive exhibits and facilities: hands-on learning is expressly urged! In the section focusing on 'Humankind' visitors experience first-hand the beginning and development of human life; 'Earth' takes them on an expedition from the centre of our planet to the atmosphere and 'Cosmos' transports visitors even further into the expanses of the galaxies.

Set off on a journey of discovery in this relaxing atmosphere; plan seminars, conventions, presentations, conferences and receptions at this extraordinary event location. The Universum Center offers event rooms with numerous options. In the lobby and on the Cosmos gallery 150 seats are available for banquets or space for up to 500 persons if stand-up tables are used. In the 'UniverSaal' on the ground floor up to 100 guests have a clear view of the large multivision wall.

More than just a marvellous view of the Universum Lake and the Bremen Bürgerpark is offered by the Panorama Lounge at the top level. Receptions, incentives, weddings and birthday parties can be arranged here. Enjoy the enchanting ambience over a cocktail and look forward to an unforgettable evening. The Panorama Lounge provides 100 square metres of space, enough for up to 80 persons, and can be combined with expedition section 'Earth'.

Right next to the 'whale' you can enjoy hotel comfort for discriminating tastes at Atlantic Hotel Universum. All rooms have an ISDN connection for laptop and Internet and you dine exquisitely at Restaurant Campus with its spirited Mediterranean cuisine.
