Programme highlights @ Erasmus Centre
Make the Erasmus Centre the site of your exciting voyage of discovery into the world of spaceflight!
Your event guide is an experienced representative of ESA. After the welcome he provides a brief outline of the diverse functions and projects of this international organisation and then explains what benefits we all gain from spaceflight: – What is weightlessness and how can we create it? – Can humans adapt to the living conditions in space? – What do we learn from the experiments on board the ISS for our everyday life? After a comprehensive briefing the ESA guide is available for all your questions.
Experience the International Space Station close up: In the accessible model of Columbus, the European ISS module and research laboratory, you become familiar with the everyday life of the astronauts: how they live and work while orbiting around our planet at an altitude of approx. 400 km every 90 minutes.
The equipment, food and water supplies of the ISS have to be replenished constantly. In the near future transportation will be provided by the ATV: an unmanned transport vehicle launched on Ariane 5 that can carry a payload up to 7.5 tons. You become acquainted with Europe’s first own space transportation vehicle for the ISS using the 1:5 model of the ATV named after Jules Verne.
The Russian Zvezda module was the third element of the ISS. It was transported into orbit in July 2000. This made it possible for the first time to station permanent crews at the ISS. In the 1:1 replica of the Zvezda you will experience its function and use.
Have you ever seen weightlessness working? In several experiments all around the drop tower you experience the effects of altered gravitation on moon and Mars and in Earth orbit.
Perfect visualisation: In a three-dimensional presentation you fly around the space station, experience the development stages of the largest joint project in human history and float like an astronaut in zero gravity through the ISS modules and stations. The multimedia combination of 3D photography and virtual reality creates for you an incomparable impression of the first joint outpost of humankind in space.
Look down at the Earth from the ISS: on the large screen you follow the current ISS flight route in a real-time simulation. Whether the Gobi Desert, the Nile or the Himalayas: enjoy the breathtaking view of our planet – at a flying speed of 28,000 kilometres per hour.
Innovative catering: The prototype of the new ISS refrigerator serves as a beverage and food station for the event participants. On request it is furnished with genuine astronaut food: see how it feels to eat like an astronaut and find out everything about the nutritional requirements in space.
The grand finale is the Space Dinner: your successful space day comes to a close with a big evening event in the atmosphere of international spaceflight. The festive high point is the three-dimensional laser show from the Big Bang to the ISS: the evolution of the universe in a breathtaking 7 minutes. In the midst of the spaceships and ISS modules you celebrate the successes of the pioneers of spaceflight from all over the world and the future of humankind in space.
Perfect accommodation: Noordwijk aan Zee has been an internationally renowned seaside resort since the 19th century. Various hotels of the highest categories are located in immediate proximity to the ESTEC grounds on Noordwijk beach.
Experienced event experts: Whether a champagne reception, gala dinner or product presentation – a well-functioning team of experienced specialists guarantees a smooth event, excellent catering and a thrilling way of staging your company presentation.
We look forward to drawing up an offer for you.
